Setup Your Email Multi-Factor Authentication

MFA Sign-In Process/Setup (Scroll Down For Video)

Step 1: Initial Sign-In

Log into Microsoft 365 with your work email and password. A prompt for additional information appears; select "Next."

Step 2: Download Microsoft Authenticator App on Mobile Device (If App already installed Skip to Step 3) Microsoft_Authenticator_icon

On the Microsoft 365 login screen, select "Download Now" to visit the Microsoft Authenticator website. Scroll to find a QR code specific to your device’s operating system. Use your mobile device to scan this QR code and follow the instructions to install the app from the appropriate app store.

Step 3: Set Up the Authenticator App

After installing, open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. In the app, select "Add work or school account," allow camera access, and return to the Microsoft 365 login screen on your desktop. Select "Next" on the desktop, then use the Authenticator app on your mobile device to scan the QR code shown on the screen.

Step 4: Link Account with QR Code & Testing the MFA Setup

After scanning, the account is added to the Authenticator app. Return to the desktop and select "Next" to initiate a test of the MFA setup. A number will appear on the desktop screen. Note this number. On your mobile device, a notification should have appeared, tap the notification and enter the number displayed on the desktop into the app and select "Yes" to verify.

Step 5: Finalize Setup

Return to the desktop, select "Next," then follow any other steps to complete the setup.
