Civil Department

Our Civil Court Department is committed to the protection and conservation of civil records. The department processes legal paperwork and enters data for civil cases filed in our office. Civil cases do not deal with criminal actions, but rather with disputes between private parties. A civil case can be defined as a personal action instituted to compel payment or the performance of some other act. The end purpose of most civil cases is to obtain a money judgment, but a judgment is sometimes sought to either compel or enjoin some action.

The Civil Court Department files and maintains Civil Cases, Occupational Licenses, Condemnations, Bonds, Deputations, and Public Entity Budgets.

Various courts in Texas have overlapping jurisdiction in civil cases. Our Civil Department handles lawsuits within the Jurisdiction Limits up to $10,000 and handles the following lawsuits

  • Property Damage
  • Personal Injury - Auto or Commercial
  • Debts / Breach of Contracts
  • Occupational License
